While PS3 and Wii users have been able to browse the Web through their consoles for a while now, Xbox users were left in the cold. ESPN and YouTube are cool, but the Xbox isn’t currently capable of surfing the Net. That may be all about to change.
The Verge is reporting that Microsoft is testing Internet Explorer 9 for Xbox 360, and is optimizing it for Kinect. While you won’t need Kinect to use it, thankfully, it seems likely it will integrate right in to the Kinect-friendly new dashboard. I like the idea of a browser, finally, but I guess I’ll have to re-learn how to use Explorer. Frankly, I didn’t even know it still existed.
Better late than never though, right? Microsoft hasn’t confirmed anything, but with E3 looming it seems likely they would wait until then to make any big announcements.
