Square Enix confirm that the highly anticpated sequal to Final Fantasy XIII will be released in the US in January 2012.
This announcement only confirms the release date for North America for now, but it’s highly likely that the UK/European release dates will be around the same time – or a few days later as per usual.
A Square Enix PR rep revealed the news tonight on Twitter, writing: “FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 is slated for a January 2012 release for North America. Be excited!”
It was confirmed at E3 this year that the PS3 and Xbox 360 title will be released in Japan in December later this year.
The title is set five years after Final Fantasy XIII and sees that game’s protagonist, Lightning, disappear into an unknown world – as he sister Serah Farron and a boy named Noel Kreiss try to find her.
